For 24.11, after this PR is merged, is it worth the effort of

  • patching emacs29 and emacs28 to make them secure again
  • and/or bumping default Emacs version to 30?

I do not think there will be many users affected by breaking changes of Emacs 30. So the main benefit of doing so is to provide epkgs binary cache.

I personally will not do these two things. PRs are welcome.
